Members of the West Elk Wrestling team traveled to Cottonwood Falls last Thursday, Dec. 12, for the annual Chase County Jamboree.
Five Patriots went undefeated at the event, with Morgan Anderson and Boedy Murphy both going 3-0 and Welch Murphy, Landon Wunderlich and Joshua Patteson all going 2-0.
Following are the individual results for West Elk participants: Women’s 140: Milly Koop went 1-2. She lost by fall to Mya Crabtree (West Franklin) (Fall 1:16); lost by fall to Kaydance Zirkel (Chase County) (Fall 0:45); and won by fall over Justyn Vaughn (Clearwater) (Fall 0:40).
Men’s 106: Welch Murphy went 2-0. He won by fall over Genaro Guerrero (Emporia) (Fall 0:56); and won by fall over Brayden Kroetch (Clearwater) (Fall 0:13).
Men’s 132B: Morgan Anderson went 3-0. He won by fall over Kamdyn Baalman (Douglass) (Fall 0:21); won by fall over Kamden Winsinger (Clearwater) (Fall 0:37); and won by fall over Ryan Mathias (West Franklin) (Fall 1:14).
Men’s 175B: Landon Wunderlich went 2-0. He won by fall over Robert Casey (Hesston) (Fall 1:57); and won by fall over Conner Adamson (Clearwater) (Fall 0:55).
Men’s 190: Boedy Murphy went 3-0. He won a 13-3 major decision over Kadin Deshane (Eureka); won a 5-2 decision over Mathias Baxa (Solomon); and won by fall over Simon Garcia-Trujillo (Emporia) (Fall 4:33).
Men’s 215B: Joshua Patteson went 2-0. He won by fall over Brayden Leer (Clearwater) (Fall 0:12); received a bye; and won by fall over Riley Rodriguez (Solomon) (Fall 0:08).
Men’s 285: Edward Metcalf went 0-3. He lost by fall to Kalvin Crowell (Emporia) (Fall 1:46); lost by fall to Garrett Pennington (Horton) (Fall 0:53); and lost by fall to Brayden Large (Hesston) (Fall 0:54).
