The Madison/Virgil USD 386 board of education met on Monday, Dec. 9, beginning at 7 p.m.
Students Charlie Kingery, Annabelle Boles, Haddie Mae Seaton and Hannah Prophet presented proposals on a School Merchandise Store and petitioned to change the fight song.
Mark Adams gave an update on Transportation.
Lindsay Lowe discussed an ELC Policy Revision, which was later approved as presented.
Dacia Brandt gave a Food Service update.
The board approved the following: November regular and special board meeting minutes and the agenda, with updates; the business by consent; a payment of the EMC premium up to June 30, 2025; the date change and addition to Board Policy JBCC-Enrollment of Nonresident Students.
The board accepted a resignation from Damon Brothers as Head Maintenance/ Custodian effective Nov. 29.
Superintendent Tammy Baird read the Senior class updates on the senior trip plans.
Information items discussed were KESA, Board Policy Update (1st Reading), BFR Audit, KASB Convention, and Entegrity. Principal Schild discussed MES activities, including Word of the Month, Bingo night, the Christmas program, and the food drive. Superintendent Baird gave updates to the Board on MJSHS activities and upcoming events.
Two executive sessions, totaling 30 minutes, were held for personnel matters. After returning to open session, the board approved to hire Jake Kingery as Head Maintenance/Custodian and Kim Kingery as play director.
