Lisa Bratton

Lisa Cheryl Bratton of Eureka, died on Sunday, Dec. 8, 2024, at her home in Eureka, at the age of 62. She was born on June 23, 1962, in Eureka, the daughter of Charles Duane and Teresa Ann (Teichgraeber) Hand. Lisa was raised in Mulvane and later Spring, Texas, graduating from Klein High School. She later attended Cottey College in Nevada, Mo., graduating in 1980. She was a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority. She later attended William Woods University in Fulton, Mo. After her schooling, she moved to St. Petersburg, Fla. where she worked as a church secretary.

Lisa later returned to Kansas and attended Wichita State University. In November 1987, Lisa was united in marriage to Gene Chavez. They made their home in Wichita. To this union, three children were born. This marriage later ended in divorce. The family moved to Eureka in 1992. Lisa started managing Stanley’s Hardware in Eureka.

On May 12, 2012, Lisa was united in marriage Andrew Bratton in Eureka. He preceded her in death on Oct. 22, 2021. She continued to operate Stanley’s until she retired in 2022.

Lisa was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, and the Delta Gamma Sorority.

She is survived by her children: Alexandra and husband, Jeffrey Jackson of Wamego; Loren and wife, Erica Chavez of Towanda; and Ian Chavez of Derby; 10 grandchildren: Evie Jackson, Sophia Jackson, Emery Jackson, Harlow Jackson, Ethan Chavez, Alexis Chavez, Brooklyn Chavez, Adalynn Chavez, Victoria Chavez, and Ian Chavez, Jr.; and two siblings: Charles “Lee” Hand of Billings, Montana; and Tricia A. Hand of Olpe.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Dec. 13, 2024, at Christ Lutheran Church, Eureka with Rev. Sue Ellen Wenthe officiating. Visitation hours are set from 5 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Eureka.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Christ Lutheran Church. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home, PO Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which is overseeing arrangements. Condolences may be left for the family online, at koupfunerals.com.
