With hopes of getting back to their roots and doing something they love, Bryan and Darla Hampton have opened a second restaurant and this one is in Greenwood County. Growing up in Howard and being the daughter of then Toot’s Drive-In owners Carl and Susan Morgan, Darla saw a glimpse of what business ownership looked like, as well as getting a firsthand experience of working in the restaurant business.
Bryan also grew up in rural Kansas, graduating from Rosalia High School. He, too, has prior experience in the restaurant industry as he owned and operated B&D’s Coin Toss Café with a friend, in Cottonwood Falls.
The duo met in 2011, were married in 2012 and opened their first restaurant “Hampton’s” in 2018. They owned and operated the El Dorado location until 2022 when they sold it to BurgerCo. Both returned to corporate America and moved to Illinois.
Now, just two years later, the couple has opened Hampton’s 2.0 at Tri-Corner in Fall River. They first began looking at a location in Eureka; however, due to facility restraints and financial concerns, the couple began looking at other options. Shortly thereafter, Tri-Corner owners reached out with the hopes of finding suitable candidates to take over the restaurant. Hampton’s 2.0 began serving customers on Oct. 16. “We really liked the laid-back atmosphere,” stated Darla.
Their signature items include their hand-breaded chicken fried steaks and homemade pies. They are closed on Monday and open 4-9 p.m. on Tuesdays, 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursdays, 11 a.m. -10 p.m. on Friday and Saturdays and 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Sundays. The restaurant also sponsors three pool teams in the area pool league, which meets on Tuesdays.
The Hamptons’ favorite thing about owning a restaurant is the return customers and meeting people from all over.
