The annual Christmas in Howard event has been planned for Saturday, Dec. 7.
The day of fun will include Breakfast with Santa, beginning at 8 a.m., at the historic Howard National Bank Building. The event will be hosted by the Elk County Preservation Society, Inc.
Vendors will be set up in the Cox Building from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., for a small business exposition. There is an entry fee. For more information, contact Andi Mull at 620779-0454.
A cookie crawl will be held from 1-3 p.m. at the Howard Benson Museum. Visit the museum to purchase cookies and to pick up a map before touring the museums and historic bank building. All proceeds from the events will go to the Howard Senior Center.
A lighted Christmas parade will begin at 6 p.m. Grand Marshals for the parade are Richard and Juanita McLean. Registration and line-up will begin at 5:30 p.m. at Rebekkah Hall (corner of Wabash and Illinois Streets). Floats, old vehicles, lighted bicycles, decorated golf carts/ UTVs and horse and riders are encouraged to participated. Chamber bucks will be awarded in each category with a cash grand prize going to the best light display.
Following the parade’s conclusion, a soup dinner fundraiser will be held at the Cox Building. The event is sponsored by the Flint Hills Boosters 4-H Club.
