Patsy Ruth Frakes of Eureka, died on Sunday, October 8, 2023, at Greenwood County Hospital, in Eureka, at the age of 91. She was born on April 2, 1932, in Pratt, the daughter of Dorsey and Bonnie (Collins) Moon. She was raised in Pratt and attended local schools. While still in school she met Clarence Lee “Pete” Frakes. They were united in marriage on August 15, 1947, in Miami, Texas. To this union, three daughters were born. They made their home in Latham.
Patsy was a homemaker all the time the girls were growing up. In 1951, the family moved to Greenwood County. They would reside here the rest of their lives. Patsy worked for Tonovay School as a custodian, and later worked at Greenwood County SRS for over ten years. Pete preceded her in death on October 28, 2011.
Patsy was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Eureka and a past member of EHU.
She is survived by two daughters, Cindy Frakes of Eureka; and Cathy Stapleford of Eureka; eight grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Paul Moon of Pratt. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter, Candace Lea “Candy” Denner; three grandchildren: Angel Stapleford; Becky Stapleford; and Clay Prewitt; and six siblings: Frank Moon; Marvin Moon, Ernie Moon, Max Moon, Annabelle Messecar, and Dolores Green.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, October 13, 2023, at Bryant Cemetery, Latham, with Pastor Linda Pope of the First United Methodist Church of Eureka officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Eureka Friendship Meals.
