The Alumni Award recognizes a former 4-H’er who continues to be involved and helpful in the 4-H program. This year’s Alumni Award recipient was Carla Davis.

Davis served as a leader of the Madison Pacesetters 4-H Club for 13 years and continues to serve 4-Hers as the goat superintendent. Thanks to her vision, meat goats became part of the Greenwood County 4-H Premium Livestock sale in 2006. Since that time, goat sales have raised over a quarter of a million dollars in premiums for our county’s 4-Hers. Davis also coaches, alongside Jeanna Beeman, Greenwood County 4-Hers in judging contests. Over the last 14 years, Greenwood County has had multiple teams win or place in the top three at Regional, State and National Contests and had many top 10 individuals. The 2023 team won the Kansas State 4-H Livestock Sweepstakes Team, winning the state title in Meats, Quiz Bowl and Skillathon and went on to be the Reserve National Livestock Quiz Bowl Team. Over the last three years, Greenwood County’s team has had five individuals who qualified for and were selected to be on the Kansas All Star National Meats Evaluation team. These Kansas All Star teams went on to win two National Championships and a Reserve National Championship with each year’s team including members from Greenwood County. Davis and her husband Greg now operate RanchLand Feed in Madison.
