The Madison/Virgil USD 386 Board of Education meets on the second Monday of each month. The following report was drafted from the unofficial minutes, which are subject to board approval.
President Dallas Luthi called the Monday, Nov. 11 meeting to order at 7 p.m.
The board approved the agenda and the minutes of the previous meeting, as well as the consent agenda, including: the current accounts payable as detailed in the board packet, the treasurer’s report, the activity fund report, October PAWS meeting minutes and parents as teachers update.
Mr. Adams’s 7th grade Civics students, Jorja Beeman, Nathan Hind and Drenna Baylor, gave a presentation to petition for new locks for the lockers in the locker area.
Mark Adams gave a Transportation update.
Board member Jannette Luthi made a motion to appoint someone to the open board position; however the motion died for lack of a second.
Information items discussed were Kansas Education Systems Accreditation (KESA), Entegrity Project, Transportation Update, Food Service Update and Board Positions.
Principal Amanda Schild discussed Madison Elementary School activities, including Halloween, Robotics, Building Bulldogs word of the month, the Veteran’s Day Assembly, the upcoming food drive and Literacy Bingo Night.
Superintendent Tammy Baird gave updates to the Board on Madison Junior/ Senior High School activities, including Carl Perkins Funding, Star Recognition, Sectional Football, the Veteran’s Day program, LCL Vocal Clinic at ESU and Community Service Day.
The board approved to join the Southwest Plains Consortium for Carl Perkins only, with J. Luthi voting no.
The board held two 10-minute executive sessions for personnel matters. No action was taken. The meeting adjourned at 8:39 p.m.
