On Thursday, Nov. 7, Eureka resident Lela Day was recognized as “Community Member of the Month” for her continued volunteer efforts for the Eureka community.
Day was nominated for her efforts with the monthly Senior Soup Social. She also volunteers for various groups and organizations that benefit the community.
Day is the eighth recipient of the “Community Member of the Month” honor for 2024 and will now be eligible for “Community Member of the Year,” which will be voted on by community residents in December 2024 and January 2025. She will join Isaac Boone, Ariel Treece, Tammi Burtin, Heather Fuesz, Chris Cummings, the Greenwood County Rodeo Association and Mike Pikto on the ballot. To nominate a “Community Member of the Month,” simply send a letter with your name, the person’s name you are nominating and why you are nominating them for the honor to [email protected]. Forms are also available at The Eureka Herald, LoMar Drive-in and the City of Eureka water office.
