Patriots Fell In Regional Concluded Season 9-1

The West Elk Patriot football team came up short last Friday night in a 14-34 loss to Little River in a rainy/muddy match-up in Howard.

West Elk was first to score in the game that started at 5 p.m., on a six-yard rush by senior Creyo Koop. Koop was also successful on the 2-point conversion attempt rush to start the game 8-0. Little River answered with a fiveyard touchdown rush of their own to add six. Their attempt was no good and the Patriots led 8-6 at the end of the first.

Little River started the scoring in the second with a 29-yard pass play. However, Koop again found the endzone on a five-yard rush. The Patriots were unsuccessful on the attempt and wouldn’t be able to cap off offensive drives during the remainder of the game. Little River added 14 more points before the half and would add eight points in the third quarter. Neither team scored in the fourth, with the game concluding with a 14-34 loss for the Patriots. West Elk concluded their season with a 9-1 record. Little River (8-2) will face Central Plains (8-2) this Friday, Nov. 15, in sectional action of the 8-player DI playoffs. The winner will advance to sub-state play on Friday, Nov. 22, with hopes of advancing to the State Championship on Saturday, Nov. 30, at 7 p.m.
