Rain! Much needed rain and more rain. Rain throughout this week, while we need the moisture we don’t need flooding. The ground is so saturated water is standing everywhere.
Did you all survive Halloween? We had no trick-or-treaters Halloween night and Saturday I walked too much earlier in the day at the gym and took a nap that afternoon. When I woke up it was 5 p.m.
How many presidents have served two non-consecutive terms?
Hello to all in area nursing and assisted living facilities. Hello also to all in area hospitals and rehab centers.
We offer our sympathy to all who lost loved ones this past week. May they rest in peace.
It seems there are a couple of dogs running around town that are destructive and killers. Pigs that were in a pen on north Jefferson were attacked and one died. The pigs were in a proper pen and the dogs were a brindle pitbull and a black and tan shepard mix.
The pig that had to be put down was a family pet, but it could have been livestock, also! This needs to stop. When I was a little kid, there were a couple of stray/wild dogs that came into town and gathered up family pets and went out east of town and killed some pigs.
All of those dogs were rounded up and shot. We lost a family pet that day. She fell in with the bad crowd and was one of the dogs that got caught. She was a cocker spaniel, so it’s not like it was in her nature to attack live animals. She had never gone out there before and she rarely left the yard.
Anyway, there is a leash law in town and has been for many years, so whoever the dogs belong to, you need to put them down. We don’t want or need this kind of thing happening here in our beloved little town.
Answer: One, Grover Cleveland. Will we see one more?
By the time you read this, we should know who the president is for the next four years. Be it good or bad, we are stuck with whomever until 2028! Whoa, that seems like a really long ways off. Four years can be an eternity. All we can do is hope and pray the voters and the electoral college got it right.
It’s that time of year again. Deer are on the move. Be aware and alert when driving, especially at dawn and dusk. If a deer is in the road, do not swerve. Apply your brakes and flip your headlights to dim.
Your lights on bright cause that “deer in the headlight” look. The bright lights affect them just like it does many people, so hit your dimmer switch, apply your brakes and do not swerve! According to the highway patrol, many vehicle/deer accidents are made worse by swerving to miss the deer.
