The West Elk Patriots claimed a 46-0 victory over Northern Heights last Thursday, Oct. 31 and advance to regional action on Friday, Nov. 8. West Elk is one of three teams to move to regional action in eight-man Division 1 football with an undefeated record, with Coldwater-South Central and Hoxie being the other teams with a 9-0 record.
West Elk will host Little River on Friday, Nov. 8. As of press time, game time was set for 7 p.m.
Little River, now 7-2, claimed a 42-40 win over Lincoln last week.
The winner of the match-up will advance to the section round on Friday, Nov. 15, where they would face the winner of the Chase County (7-2) vs. Central Plains (7-2) contest.
Against Northern Heights, the Patriots claimed 6 first downs, 199 passing yards and 80 rushing yards.
The Patriots added 22 points in the first quarter with senior Trent Haag rushing for a 1-yard touchdown and then finding fellow senior Creyo Koop for two touchdown pass plays, a 31-yard and a 48-yard. West Elk was successful on two of the three 2-point conversion attempts. The first was a rush by Koop and the third a pass play from Haag to Garett Usry.
In the second, Koop found the end-zone two more times with a 6-yard and 1-yard runs. Haag also found Usry for a 54-yard touchdown pass. West Elk scored on all three 2-point conversion attempts by Koop.
