A special October meeting of the Susannah French Putney (SFP) Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) was held on Oct. 18, in downtown El Dorado.
The members met at BrewCo. Coffeehouse & Dilly Deli in downtown El Dorado.
Following lunch, the ladies did some shopping in the downtown area and then met at the Coutts Museum of Art for a tour.
Curator Sheila Yrjanainen escorted the ladies on a fun and informative tour of the museum. Not only was the history of the building interesting (constructed in 1917), but the displays were varied and diverse. Each of the three floors contained different themes and showcased different artists. Yrjanainen shared information about the paintings, the artists and the methods of presentation in the artwork. Besides sharing artwork, the Coutts Museum sponsors many fun and educational activities for the area. Stop by or check out their website for current information.
For the DAR Day of Service, snacks have been delivered to the Butler and Greenwood County Sheriff’s Departments. Members Carla Cook and Loria Howard are pictured above with Greenwood County Sheriff Deputies Sonja Kennedy and Clint Hansen.
