The Kansas 4-H Meat Judging Team captured Reserve Champion honors at the 2024 National 4-H Meat Judging Contest held in conjunction with the American Royal Livestock Show on Tuesday, Oct. 15 at Kansas State University. The awards breakfast was held at the American Royal Complex in Kansas City on Wednesday, Oct. 16. The Kansas Team members included two Greenwood County 4-Hers Hannah Perrier and Addison Westerman, as well as Callen Smith (Barber County) and Lillian Hulse (Central Kansas District). Coaches of the team were Sam Stickley and Taylor Dieball.
The Team finished the contest 2nd in Placings, 3rd in Retail ID and 2nd in Reasons to capture the Reserve Champion Overall Team.
Perrier was 6th High Individual Overall with a 2nd place in Retail ID turning in a perfect score of 300. Smith was 8th High Individual Overall. Westerman was 10th High Individual in Oral Reasons.
Perrier, a junior at Eureka Junior/Senior High School. is the daughter of Matt and Amy Perrier of rural Eureka.
Westerman, also a junior at Eureka Junior/Senior High School. is the daughter of Luke and Mindy Westerman of rural Eureka.
