Pool/Nelson Named EHS Homecoming Royalty

During a special assembly last Friday afternoon, seniors Dalton Pool, son of James and Jennifer West of Eureka and Corinne Nelson, daughter of Jamie and Stephanie Nelson of rural Toronto, were named as the 2024 Eureka High School Homecoming King and Queen.

The other candidates, all seniors, included: for King, Laken Valentine, Tanner Biering, Kalim Mouer and Cody Johnson; and for Queen, Kimber Ptacek, Aven Sanchez, Olivia Valentine and Trinity Samuels.

The crown bearers were Bash Foth and Lovie McKee, both first graders at Marshall Elementary School, in Eureka.

Parade Grand Marshals Joel and Sharyl Edmondson, the EHS Class of 1975 along with the Class of 2025 and other EHS graduates were recognized.

The homecoming parade followed the assembly. The sophomore class won the float contest, with seniors placing second and juniors being third. For clubs and groups, SADD claimed top honors, with FFA taking second and Art Club placing third.

Students in grades 7-12 also created banners for Homecoming week. The freshmen claimed top honors with the seniors taking second place and 7th grade claiming third place.

During halftime Friday evening, the new Queen and her court were escorted by their fathers, as well as the King candidates. The crown bearers, EHS cheerleaders, the EHS band and 2023 EHS Homecoming Queen Lyndsey Escareno and King Carl Biering assisted with festivities.

The Tornadoes won their game, 58-2, against Pomona- West Franklin. See related article on page 7 of this week’s issue. A homecoming dance was held in the Tornado Activity Center, following the game.
