Greenwood County 4-H Council Makes Plans ForThe New 4-HYear

The bi-monthly meeting of the Greenwood County 4-H Council was held on Monday, Sept. 16, at 7 p.m. at the Greenwood County Courthouse with 10 members and six adults present.

A representative from each 4-H club reported on the many activities that they took part in since the last council meeting.

Enrollment for the new 4-H year opened on Oct. 1. Current members need to be enrolled by Jan. 3 and new 4-H members have until May 1 to enroll.

National 4-H Week was held Oct. 6-12, 48 hours of 4-H was Oct. 12-13 and Kansas Youth Leadership Forum will be Nov. 23-24.

In new business, members voted to hold Officer Training on Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. in the Concourse Building Braden Room in Eureka with a meal being provided. The Greenwood County Achievement Banquet will be held on Thursday, Nov. 7 at the Hamilton High School with the meal being served at 6:30 p.m. and the program following at 7 p.m. 4-Hers will serve a steak sandwich lunch during Cattlemen’s Day on Saturday, Nov. 2 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the courthouse lawn. The steak was donated by Cargill. 4-Hers will also serve the annual Cattlemen’s Banquet that evening.

The next council meeting will be held Monday, Nov. 18 at 7 p.m. at the courthouse. New council officers will be elected for the 2024-25 4-H year.
