Eureka Graduate Named Freshman Senator At Washburn University

Kate Coulter, a 2023 graduate of EHS, earned the title of senator today as she was inducted as one of five freshmen senators with the Washburn Student Government Association (WSGA). Coulter is pictured with Dr. Teresa L. Clounch, the adviser of WSGA.

Coulter was one of 942 students in the record breaking number of incoming freshmen at Washburn University, helping the college to report growth for the first time in a decade.

Coulter’s ultimate goal while attending Washburn University is “to make a positive impact on the community and campus by getting involved, making new friends and showcasing Gods love through my actions!”

As a freshman senator, Coulter will vote on bills presented before the council, give feedback on bills, be a part of the Health and Wellness Committee and representing/giving a voice for the freshman class.

Coulter is currently majoring in Communications with a minor in Leadership.

The daughter of Stephen and Stacy Coulter, of Eureka, is a 2023 graduate of Eureka Junior/ Senior High School (EJSHS). During her time at EJSHS, Coulter was active with various organizations and activities, including the Family, Career and Communities Leaders of America’s (FCCLA). She topped off her senior year at EJSHS by serving on the National Executive Council of the FCCLA as the Vice President of Membership.
