Three Eureka Tornadoes claimed hardware at the Central Heights Invitational on Thursday, Oct. 3.
Lady Tornado juniors Rose Buck and Britta Mongeau each claimed hardware in the varsity girls 5K race. Buck finished the race with a time of 19:33.26 to claim second and Mongeau completed the run in 21:34.06 for seventh place.
Also placing at the meet was seventh grader Nolan Morris, who claimed top honors in the boys 2-mile race. He completed the race with a time of 12:51.06. Others representing Eureka in the boys 7th grade race were: Gavin Gonzalez, 11th, 14:35.69 and Henry Lindamood, 27th, 17:22.87.
In the boys’ varsity 5K race, Tornado Ethan Bauer finished in 53rd place with a time of 22:57.08.
Eureka freshman Reata Bogle ran in the junior varsity girls 5k Race, finishing with a time of 35:21.80 for 23rd.
Three eighth grade boys represented Eureka in the 2-mile race.
Eureka’s Tavin Austinplaced 17th with a time of 15:21.12; Braden Buckplaced 26th with a time of 16:05.48; and Cohen Marks placed 29th with a time of 18:56.48.

Eureka hosted their annual meet on Tuesday, Oct. 8, at Eureka Country Club. They will travel to Fredonia on Thursday, Oct. 17 for Tri-Valley League action. They will then compete in 2A Regionals on Saturday, Oct. 26, in Marion. The top three teams and 15 individuals qualify for state. Teams being represented at the Marion Regional include: Conway Springs, Cottonwood Falls-Chase County, Douglass, Elbing-Berean Academy, Eureka, Hillsboro, Hutchinson-Trinity Catholic, Leon-Bluestem, Marion, Moundridge, Sedgwick, Udall, Whitewater- Remington, Wichita Central Christian Academy, Wichita-Classical School Of Wichita and Yates Center. Girls will race at 10 a.m. ad boys will run at 11:10 a.m.
