Patriot Football Defeated CVD, 64-14

Despite a close first quarter, the West Elk Patriots dominated over Cedar Vale/Dexter (CVD) last Friday at home.

The Patriots claimed a 64-14 victory to remain undefeated going into week 6.

CVD was first to score with a 22-yard pass play but, the Patriots answered with a 21-yard run by Creyo Koop. The conversion attempt, a run by Koop, was also successful and the teams were tied at 8. Both teams would score again in the first; however, the Patriot defense was able to hold CVD on the attempt and Trent Haag was able to find Garett Usry for a 2-point play following another TD run by Koop. West Elk led 16-14 at the end of the first.

The Patriots dominated in the second, holding CVD scoreless and adding 34 points of their own. Haag claimed four touchdowns in the second quarter, three of which were pass plays to Koop (14-yards, 42-yards and 46-yards) and the other being a 20-yard run. The Patriots also had a picksix as Koop scored on a 30yard interception. West Elk was successful on two of the 2-point conversion attempts to lead at halftime 50-14.

The Patriots sealed their victory in the third. Koop again found the endzone on a 5-yard run with Haag finding Morgan Anderson for the 2-point conversion. The final score of the game was a 52-yard run by Haag. The game was called in the third quarter, with the Patriots claiming a 64-14 win.
