It’s National Newspaper Week! This week always forces me to reflect on the years I have served as editor/publisher, as well as an “outsider,” as I watched my Dad and his colleagues wade through the waters.
Community journalism is vital and imperative. As a third generation journalist, I take great pride in making sure that the community is informed. Whether it be the good, the bad or the ugly, the staff at The Herald works tirelessly to inform this great community we get to call home. We work hard to keep our opinions to this page. It is not our job to tell you what to believe, but rather tell you what happened. By giving you the facts of what has happened, our readers can then in turn make up their own minds.
From simply getting the word out about community happenings to ensuring that the public knows what happens during various council/board meetings, we do it all with pride! We know there are two sides to every story and focus on sharing the facts with our readers. We get to celebrate with our community during the best of times and will even lend a shoulder during the difficult times.
Thank you to our readers for your continued support. I hope to continue to serve as a “watchdog” for years to come.
Happy National Newspaper Week!
