Two undefeated teams gathered at McGinnis Field last Friday, Sept. 27 with hopes of im proving their records to 4-0. The match-up was the first District 2 game for the Tornadoes and the Cubs of Humboldt. The Cubs concluded their season last year in sectional play and looked to remain strong this year.
Humboldt held the Tornadoes to a single touchdown in the first half and tallied 40 points of their own. Eureka quarterback Peyton Hare was able to break away for a 77-yard touchdown run with :12 remaining in the first quarter. The second half was similar to the first with the Tornadoes only add -
ing 6 points and Hum - boldt increasing their lead. It was Hare again who rushed for a 60-yard touchdown play in the fourth. As the game con cluded, Eureka lost 12-- 56. The Tornadoes will continue District 2 play for the next three weeks. They will travel to Leon this Friday, Oct. 4; host Pomona-West Franklin for Homecoming on Fri- day, Oct. 11 and travel to Central Heights on Friday, Oct. 18. All game times are slated for 7 p.m.
Central Heights defeated Leon, 14-6 on Friday.
