COFFEE SHOP TALK

COFFEE SHOP TALK

Each week The Herald will ask a random question, both on the opinion page of the weekly paper and on The Eureka Herald Facebook© page. Responses should be mailed to PO Box 590, Eureka, KS 67045, e-mailed to [email protected] with “Coffee Shop Talk” in the subject; dropped off at our office, 822 E. River, in Eureka or made on The Eureka Herald’s Facebook© page.

The “Question of the Week” for last week was: “What is your favorite thing about your hometown newspaper?” in honor of National Newspaper Week, October 1-7. Share your favorite thing (i.e., History page, puzzles, local news) by sharing with The Eureka Herald by emailing news@eurekaherald. com. Julie Nordmeyer-Bilson* - “All of it! You do a wonderful job, Robin, and your dad is mighty proud, I am sure!!!”

Robin Clasen Wunderlich* - Julie Nordmeyer- Bilson, thank you. Every now and then... I do hear him chuckling though, lol Wish I would have had time to “quiz” him or ask him questions on various things for this industry.”

Sue Bitler* “You.. Thank you for continuing it” Lostn Oz* - “Enjoy the fact that you go above and beyond to try to cover ALL the schools in the area, NOT just the Eureka School. Thank you” Dixie Huntington* - “I enjoy all of our local paper. Look forward to it each week.”

Glenn Barrier* - “I always liked watching Ink Pot (Linotype machine operator) working of an evening on 2nd Street. Wish I could remember his name.”

Steve Brown* - “They do an awesome job covering local events. I used to have a Wichita paper subscription, and it was garbage. Literally. I look forward to getting the Herald every week. I prefer the digital edition, but that’s just me. The Herald is the reason we don’t even attempt local news on the radio. Keep up the awesome work!! Everybody in the Eureka area needs to support our local paper. We are very lucky to have such a good one.

Robin Clasen Wunderlich* - “You all are far too kind! We are gearing up for National Newspaper Week and love to see what favorite things others have to say about their hometown paper(s). My favorite thing about newspapers is how they connect with their readers. It’s a common place to get information that isn’t edited or deleted once published. As the editor of my hometown paper, my favorite things about the Herald are our readers and advertisers, who keep it going week after week. Thank you all for supporting your local hometown paper(s).”

If you have a recommendation for the “Question of the Week” please send it to Robin at news@eurekaherald. com, or stop by 822 E. River St., Ste 100.
