Eureka Volleyball Defeated Bulldogs

Eureka Tornado High School volleyball traveled to Douglass last Tues - day, Sept. 24, where they faced the Bulldogs, along with the Lions of Blue- stem. The Lady Tornadoes defeated the Bulldogs of Douglass in a three-set match, 25-19, 22-25 and 28-26. Eureka was led by Madelyn Miller who recorded 16 digs, 3 kills, 1 ace serve and 1 block assist. Kinlee Sanchez tallied 15 digs and 3 kills, while Raylee Boles recorded 10 digs, 5 assists and 1 ace serve. Also rep - resenting the Tornadoes were Brooklyn Odgen, 2 kills, 1 block assist and 1 dig; Kimber Ptacek, 1 ace serve, 1 solo block, 3 block assists, 1 assist and 2 digs; Corinne Nelson, 2 kills. 2 solo blocks, 4 block assists and 2 digs; Elle Coulter, 3 ace serves, 3 kills, 1 block assist and 7 digs; and Alaina Wes terman, 2 ace serves, 1 kill, 1 solo block, 2 block assists, 8 assists and 9 digs.

Against the Lions, Eu- reka lost 18-25 and 24-26. The Tornadoes recorded 3 ace serves with Miller, Coulter and Westerman all having 1. The team recorded 9 kills, with Coulter leading the way with 3. Westerman had 2 and Ptacek, Miller, Nel - son and Boles all had 1. Eureka recorded 5 blocks with Nelson recording 2 and Ogden, Ptacek and Westerman all having 1.

Boles led the team with 7 of the 9 assists (Ptacek and Miller each had one) and the team recorded 45 digs with Sanchez leading the team with 18. Others recording digs were: Lydia Mason 10, Westerman 8, Miller 7, Boles 5. Pta - cek, Nelson and Coulter all with 2 and Arabella Shepherd 1.

Eureka will travel to Iola on Oct. 3, with the junior varsity team traveling to Rosalia this Saturday, Oct. 5, for the Flinthills JV Tourna - ment. Eureka will host Erie and Fredonia on Oct. 8, at 5 p.m. for Pink Out and Youth Recogni- tion Night.
