Madison-Virgil USD 386 BOE

The Madison-Virgil USD 386 Board of Education meets routinely on the second Monday of each month. The following report was created from the unofficial minutes of the Sept. 9 board meeting, which are subject to board approval.

The meeting was called to order at 6:40 p.m., with the Revenue Neutral Rate (RNR) hearing. The board approved Resolution 2425386 to authorize exceeding the RNR for the 2425 school year, as well as holding a roll call vote to approve the resolution to exceed the RNR, with all voting in favor. The budget hearing followed the RNR hearing. The board approved to publish the budget for the 2024-25 school year in The Madison News. Both the Building Needs Assessment and State Assessments were provided to the board, evaluated by the board, and used in the Budget Approval Process.

The board approved the Local Option Percentage in an amount of 33% for the 24-25 school year.

During their routine monthly meeting, the board approved the August regular and special board meeting minutes, the agenda, approved the business by consent, in-cluding payables totaling $48,534.58, approved board member Amy Hind as the USD 386 voting delegate to the KASB Annual Convention and approved the safe return plan and mitigation plan as presented.

Superintendent Tammy Baird and the board discussed a softball and baseball program.

Information items discussed were projected FTE numbers for count day, Ag building update, Strategic Planning, Food Service and the At-Large Board position.

Superintendent Baird also read the 1st Reading of the Workers’ Compensation Policy.

Principal Amanda Schild discussed MES activities and projects.

Superintendent Baird gave updates to the Board on MJSHS activities.

The board held two executive sessions, totaling 25 minutes, to discuss personnel matters. After returning to open session, the board approved Jenn Boles as Math Interventionist during study hall time and John Russell as Activities Director with duties and Supervisory duties for the 24-25 school year.

The meeting adjourned at 8:26 p.m.
