Homecoming Royalty To Be Crowned Next Friday During Special Ceremony

Homecoming festivities for Eureka Junior/Senior High School will begin on Monday of next week as spirit week kicks off.

Spirit days for Homecoming week follow the theme “A Home Sweet Homecoming.” Monday, Oct. 7 is “Rolo”ver,” day (wear pajamas); Tuesday, Oct. 8 is “Skittles” – wear class colors (Seniors: Blue, Juniors: Red, Sophomores: Purple, Freshmen: Orange; 8th: Green and 7th: Yellow); Wednesday, Oct. 9 is Community Service Day. Dress up attire for the pep rally Wednesday evening is: “Lifesavers” – wear Beach/Hawaiian; Thursday, Oct. 10 is Baby Ruth Bar – wear Jerseys and Friday, Oct. 11 is “Go Big Red” – Wear Red.

Homecoming royalty, voted on by students in grades nine through twelve, was announced last week. Pictured at right, from left to right, are Queen candidates (front row): Aven Sanchez, Kimber Ptacek, Corinne Nelson, Olivia Valentine and Trinity Samuels; and King candidates (back row): Kalim Mouer, Dalton Pool, Cody Johnson, Tanner Biering and Laken Valentine. The crown bearers for this year’s event are Sebastian “Bash” Foth and Lovie McKee, first graders at Marshall Elementary School.

On Wednesday, Oct. 9, the community is invited to attend a special pep rally, that will include a Powder Puff football game, Homecoming candidate games, a jersey auction and a bonfire. The event is slated to begin at 6:30 p.m.

A special assembly will be held at 1:15 p.m., next Friday, where the King and Queen will be crowned. The EHS class of 1975 will be recognized. The annual parade will follow at approximately 2 p.m. The Grand Marshals for this year’s parade are Joel and Sharyl Edmondson. High school grade levels will have various club and class floats in the parade.

The Eureka Tornado football team will take on Pomona- West Franklin on Friday, Oct. 11, at 7 p.m. To conclude the Homecoming festivities, a dance for high school students will be held from 9:3011:30 p.m.
