Harmony Sunflowers 4-H Club -

The Harmony Sunflowers 4-H Club held their September meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 3, at 6 p.m. at the Christ Lutheran Church, in Eureka. Roll call was answered by 19 members, six clover buds and three leaders.

Secretary Natalynn Gulick read last month’s minutes and they were approved as read. A bill for the club’s thank you notes were presented. Leader Mica Coulter shared information from Cindy Hayes about the 2024 Booster Club and the purchases made at the Premium Sale.

Cody Johnson gave the treasurers report. Cort Decker shared that the August minutes were published in The Eureka Herald.

Council Representative C. Johnson shared that the next council meeting was to be on Sept. 16 at 7 p.m.

During special committees, Doris Decker shared the idea of a petting zoo at Cattlemen’s Day for an additional service project. Michelle Johnson shared information on the club’s upcoming Club Achievement Night on Oct. 6. There were no project leader reports.

During Leader’s Reports, Shannon Rockhill announced that record and officer books were due to a leader by Sept. 20. The enrollment for the new 4-H year opens Oct. 1. The club needs to decide on a 48 Hours of 4-H project to complete during the weekend of Oct. 12-13. Please share any pictures from the year with Kim Fogle at the Extension Office for the County Achievement Banquet. She also reminded members about the “Living the Pledge” challenge and encouraged members to participate.

M. Coulter expressed appreciation to the parents who provided boats for the 4-H Family Club Day at the lake in August. C. Decker received the “Life Saver” award for his help in saving stranded kayakers. Sept. 21 was the club’s bake sale at the Barbara Lewis Long Estate Sale. She also expressed appreciation to the families who helped with duties at the fair and encouraged everyone to pick one extra thing to help with at the next fair to spread the duties.

Officer elections were held. The new officers are President – Chason Gulick; Vice President – Clay Teter; Secretary – Brody Mitchell; Treasurer – C. Johnson; Parlimentarians – Duke Coulter and Noah Everly-Burtin; Song Leaders – Haidyn Evenson and D. Coulter; Recreation Leaders – Allie Knowles and Bryce Teter; Historians – D. Coulter; Brody Rockhill and Everly-Burtin, Council Representatives – C. Decker, Fisher Hobbs, Mitchell and the alternate as Natalynn Gulick.

In new business, motions were made to pay the bills, accept the new slate of officers for the 2024-2025 4-H year, organize and clean the Christ Lutheran Church basement for the club’s 48 hours of 4-H project on Oct. 13, hold 4-H Sunday at the Christian & Congregational Church on Oct. 13, the club to pay for meat, rolls, and paper goods at the Club Achievement Night and the club to pay the enrollment fees for the next year for active club members and to do the petting zoo on Cattlemen’s Day.

Vice President Paiton Gravatt led the program. C. Gulick gave a parliamentarian tip on the process for election of officers. S. Rockhill, M. Coulter and Beth Teter held a special program recognizing the club’s graduating seniors, Wylee Boulanger and Gravatt.

M. Johnson reminded the members that invitations for the Club Achievement Night were available after the meeting. Tyler Wells shared with the club what the thank you notes looked like for supporters.

The Harmony Sunflower’s 4-H Club next monthly meeting is Sunday, Oct. 6, in the basement of Christ Lutheran Church at 5 p.m. Roll call will be “What are you going to be for Halloween?”

D. Coulter moved to adjourn the meeting by saying the 4-H motto, motion seconded and carried, meeting adjourned. Following the meeting a short reception was held to honor the graduating seniors.
