Eureka had two cross country runners claim top honors at Central of Burden last Thursday, Sept. 19.
Tornado junior Britta Mongeau claimed first place honors when she ran the high school varsity girls 2 mile race in 13:06.36. Seventh grader Nolan Morris claimed top honors in the boys seventh grade 1-mile, with a time of 5:53.36.
Fellow seventh grader, Gavin Gonzalez placed 4th, with a time of 6:43.70. Also running for Eureka was Henry Lindamood, who placed 18th, with a time of 8:04.27.
Also representing the Lady Tornadoes was freshman Reata Bogle, who finished 21st with a time of 22:24.55.
Three Tornadoes claimed hardware in the boys eighth grade 1-mile run, as all three finished in the top 15. Eureka’s Tavin Austin placed 8th with a time of 7:06.86. Tornado Braden Buck placed 9th with a time of 7:10.73 and Cohen Marks placed 14th with a time of 8:31.01.
Eureka Cross Country is slated to compete at Oxford (Napa Walla Park) on Thursday, Sept. 26 and at Central Heights on Thursday, Sept. 3, before hosting their annual event on Tuesday, Oct. 8.
