County Archers Shot Well At 4-H State Archery

A total of nine Greenwood County Archers traveled to T.H.E. Archery Club on Saturday, Sept. 21, in Wakarusa, for the 2024 State 4-H Competition. All 207 archers qualified either in compound (bowhunter or open) and/or recurve (barebow or olympic) divisions, with archers being allowed to compete in a total of two disciplines.

Greenwood County’s Wylee Boulanger (2023 state senior champion), and Chason Gulick (2023 state junior champion) represented the area in the senior compound division. Savannah Bruno-Pelky represented the area in the senior recurve division. The senior division is for 4-Hers ages 14-18.

In the junior division, Greenwood County was represented by Camden Wunderlich, Brody Mitchell, Fisher Hobbs, William Davis and Noah Everly- Burtin competed in the compound division and Ruger Schouten shot recurve. The junior division is for 4-Hers ages 9-13.

All competitors competed in both a FITA (large round stationary target) and a 3D or Trail portion in their disciplines. Three Greenwood County archers shot near perfect scores in FITA. However, official scores have not yet been released. The delay in results on Saturday evening was attributed to inclement weather moving in.

As of press time, results hadn’t yet been shared.

The archery and shotgun projects are part of the Greenwood County 4-H Shooting Sports program. For more information about 4-H Shooting Sports contact the Greenwood County Extension Office.
