The first meeting of the Marshall Elementary PTA was called to order on Tuesday, Sept. 3, at 5:35 p.m. at Marshall Elementary by President Beth Whitehead. In attendance were two school representatives, including Principal Stacy Coulter and 10 parents with three of those being current officers. No previous meeting minutes were to be read as this was the first official meeting of the school year.
Whitehead reported on the President’s report of which the main focus was the upcoming fundraiser for the school. Marshall PTA will be bringing back the Believe Kids Fundraiser, which is catalogs to purchase items from. Students will have catalogs and order forms to start selling items from Oct. 7 until Oct. 22. Delivery for the items purchased will be Dec. 4. These items will come to the school and then students can pick up their orders to begin distributing to their customers. The money raised from this fundraiser will help purchase additional bulletin boards for the teacher’s hallways, as well as increase the PTA budget to be able to continue to fund the school laminator as well as increase the budget for school grants throughout the year. There will be a reward party for those students who sell 15 items individually or 20 items as a family with the event and date yet to be determined. There also was a discussion about having a grade-level competition to promote more sales.
Whitehead reported the treasurer’s report and current financials were discussed. The 2024-25 PTA budget was approved by LeAnne Winn with Heidi Boone seconding the motion. Committee reports were discussed with committee sign-ups for the new school year. The 2024-25 schedule was approved. A date for Christmas on Main Street was decided and will be Dec. 3 at 5 p.m. A date for the Spring Fling Dance was also discussed and will be April 12, 2025.
The next meeting of the Marshall Elementary PTA will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 5, at 5:30 p.m. at Marshall Elementary.
