Patriot Footballs Moves To 2-0 With 52-38 Victory Over Oxford

The Patriots claimed the early lead with a 12-yard run by senior Creyo Koop; however, the 2-point conversation attempt was not successful and Oxford was quick to answer with a 25-yard touchdown run of their own to tie the score at 6.

West Elk answered the touchdown with a 63-yard kick off return by Koop. The Patriots added twomore with a pass play by seniors Trent Haag and Maddex Moreno. Oxford would add another six of their own before the first quarter concluded with a 58-yard run by Jordan. The two-point conversion attempt was no good. The Patriots led after one, 1412.

West Elk added 22 points in the second quarter; but, Oxford stayed close scoring two touchdowns of their own. The Patriots were first to score with 23-yard run by Koop and a successful pass by Haag to Garett Usry. Following six-points by Oxford, West Elk added a 26-yard touchdown pass from Haag to Koop (two point conversation attempt unsuccessful) and a fiveyard rush by Koop with a successful run by Haag to lead 36-18. Oxford would add eight points before halftime with a 22-yard run by Jordan and a successful pass conversion, with the Patriots holding on to a 36-26.

Oxford closed the gap in the third as they held the Patriots scoreless and added six points with a 61yard touchdown by Jordan. Moving into the final quarter, the Patriots led 36-32.

The Patriots added 16 points in the fourth with a 1-yard run by Haag and a 38-yard pass from Haag to Koop. Both two-point conversion attempts were successful by Haag to Usry and Kase Kill. Oxford added six points with a 35-yard pass from Jordan to Hunter Plummer. The game concluded with a 52--38 Patriot Victory.

The Patriots will host Udall this Friday, Sept. 20, for their homecoming event, before traveling to Oswego on Sept. 27. Both kick-offs are slated for 7 p.m.
