Eureka’s Mongeau Placed Second At Girard

Eureka was well represented at the Girard Invitational at Greenbush on Thursday, Sept. 12, with seven finishing in the top 10 in their races.

Eureka was well represented at the Girard Invitational at Greenbush on Thursday, Sept. 12, with seven finishing in the top 10 in their races.

Lady Tornado junior Britta Mongeau placed second in the varsity girls 5K with a time of 20:57.67. The top 25 finishers were awarded a medal. Fellow Lady Tornado Reata Bogle, a freshman, competed in the junior varsity 2 mile race. She placed 24th with a time of 21:35.87.

In the boys varsity 5K, senior Ethan Bauer finished with a time of 22:20.84 to place 48th.

Six Tornado boys competed in the junior high division and all six finished in the top 10, with those finishing in the top five receiving hardware.

In the boys seventh grade 2 mile race, Nolan Morris placed first with a time of 12:18.07. Also competing in the seventh grade race were: Gavin Gonzalez who placed fifth with a time of 14:05.46 and Henry Lindamood who was 10th with a time of 17:18.33.

In the boys eighth grade 2 mile race, Tavin Austin placed fifth with a time of 14:12.38. Also competitng in the boys eighth grade race were: Braden Buck, who placed sixth with a time of 15:31.68 and Cohen Marks, who placed eighth with a time of 17:55.80.

Tornado Cross Country will travel to Central of Burden on Thursday, Sept. 19, at 3 p.m. before traveling to Oxford on Thursday, Sept. 26.
