What does “sesquipedalian” mean?

Once again, another week with no work appearing to be done on Cedar Creek Bridge on Highway 105, north of town. I was going to stop and talk to someone at the office trailer about the progress, but no one was around all week.

I’m sure they have their reasons for not working for two weeks, but from a bystander’s viewpoint, they missed out on some ideal weather for construction work. Maybe this week, someone will be there and I can find out something.

Hello to all in area nursing and assisted living centers. Hello also to all in area hospitals and rehab facilities.

We offer our sympathy to the families of Richard Grisier and Dr. Dwight “Dr. B” Blackwood. We offer our sympathy to all others who lost loved ones this past week. May they all rest in peace.

This Friday evening, the Toronto United Methodist Church will be hosting a night of music with local talent playing from 7:30-8 p.m. and Hiroya Tsukamoto, from Japan, will begin performing at 8 p.m.

This show is open to anyone wanting to enjoy an evening filled with music, song and storytelling. Free will donations accepted.

The former American Legion building, now known as the Ignite building, is a busy place two days and one evening each week. On Tuesdays, they have a leather craft class from 9-11 a.m. On Thursdays, they have sewing, crochet and any other crafts, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. and they bring their own lunch. On Fridays at 6 p.m., they play cards for a couple of hours. Anyone and everyone is welcome to join in any of these activities.

Answer: Uses big words. Have you ever heard of “forest bathing” or “nature therapy?” Get this, it’s a new term describing the joy of getting outside and enjoying it! And if you hug a tree while out in nature your brain releases oxytocin.

I don’t know about tree hugging, but getting outside, especially out of town, is very rewarding and relaxing.
