Tornado Football Claimed Win Over Erie, 28-6

The Tornadoes got off to a fast start in the 2024 season with a 28-6 win over the Erie Red Devils last Friday, Sept. 6. It took just six plays for Eureka to find the end zone on a 47 yard touchdown run by Peyton Hare capped off by a 2-point conversion by Kalim Mouer. The Tornadoes swarmed on the defensive side of the ball all night taking the ball away from the Red Devils four times. Fumbles were forced by Easton Mead, Braden Grimmett/ Brody Mitchell and Hare. The fumbles were recovered by Cole Ptacek, Tanner Biering and Dylan Hamilton, while TJ Mills added an interception to the turnover total. The rushing attack for the Tornadoes was the engine for the offense against Erie with Hare rushing for 113 yards on the night with 2 touchdowns and one 2 point conversion. Mouer added another 90 yards to the rushing total along with 2 touch downs and one 2 point conver sion. Eureka now looks towards Fredonia in week 2, at home, with a focus to build off of their success in week 1. This Friday’s game will also be the annual Home Town Hero event, which will begin at 6:40 p.m. Kick-off is slated for 7 p.m. The Tornado junior varsity team is slated to compete at Fredonia on Monday, Sept. 16, at 6 p.m.
