The following report was generated from the unofficial minutes of the Madison Recreation Commission (MRC) meeting held on Aug. 21. The unofficial minutes are subject to board approval.

The Aug. 21 meeting of the MRC was called to order by President Ty Gaines with members Dylan Barnard, Jason Albert, Paul Dean and Dallas Thompson present.

Tony Haag was present to give an update on the baseball fields.

The minutes from the July 17 meeting were unanimously approved.

During public forum, Haag discussed the status of the field renovations and materials still needed to complete the various projects, including dugouts, grass planting and fence construction. The board consented to selling the Hill Field dugout roofs with a reserve of $100 per roof and a bid time of 30 days once posted. The MRC approved to reimburse Haag $90 to cover the costs to rebuild the drag and clips for the batting cages.

The treasurer’s report was given by Thompson, with the board being advised of the date for the budget hearing being Sunday, Aug. 25, at the Madison High School.

During the director report, Director Jon Larkin advised that due to the number of flag football players, there will be two separate flag football teams in the Burlington League. Volleyball will likewise have two teams. All teams have checked their football equipment. There needs to be a couple of sets of pads purchased due to the number of participants this year.

It was shared that the concrete pour is still set for Sept. 21.

Meeting adjourned.
