Cross Country Runners Competed Clearwater

Members of the Eureka Tornado junior high and high school cross country opened their season last Thursday in Clearwater, where several Tornadoes claimed hardware.

Members of the Eureka Tornado junior high and high school cross country opened their season last Thursday in Clearwater, where several Tornadoes claimed hardware.

Eureka’s Rose Buck claimed first place honors in the varsity girls open 5K. She finished the race with a time of 21:20.66.

Tornado Jonah Werner ran the boys 5K with a time of 20.58, placing 17th out of 48.

Eureka’s Britta Mongeau finished 4th with a time of 14:03.31 in the freshman/ sophomore girls 2-mile run.

Tornado Davian Damron finished 43rd with a time of 14:36.80 in the freshman/ sophomore boys 2-mile run.

In the junior high contests, Eureka eighth graders Rose Owens placed 16th with a time of 16:40.80 in the 8th grade girls 2-mile run and Will Morris earned a 7th place medal with a time of 13:25.06 in the 8th grade 2-mile run. Also competed in the 8th grade girls race was Reata Bogle.

Seventh graders competed in a 1-mile run. Tornado Tavin Austin placed 62nd with a time of 8:08; Braden Buck placed 74th with a time of 8:31, and Cohen Marks placed 89th with a time of 9:29 and McKenna McDonald placed 9th, with a time of 7:07.9.

The High School Tornadoes will travel to Girard this Thursday, at 5 p.m., before both junior high and high school travel to Central of Burden on September 14, at 3 p.m.
