Harmony Sunflowers 4-H Club

The Harmony Sunflowers 4-H Club held their monthly meeting Sunday, Aug. 4, at the Christ Lutheran Church, in Eureka. Acting President Fisher Hibbs called the meeting to order at 6:05 p.m. Duke Coulter and Tavin Austin led the Pledge of Allegiance and the 4-H Pledge. Roll Call was “What is your favorite summer activity?” and was answered by 15 members, five cloverbuds, and three leaders.

For communications, Brody Mitchell read a note from Fancy Mustangs 4-H Club.

Cody Johnson gave the treasurer’s report and there was no reporter’s report. In council, Johnson reported the next meeting is Monday, Sept. 16.

In leader reports, Mica Coulter reported that all non-food entries going to the State Fair need to be turned into the Extension Office by Aug. 30. All food entries may be dropped off Sept. 4. She noted a member of the community reached out to her to see if the club would be interested in doing a bake sale for an upcoming estate sale. She went over the importance of writing Thank You’s to everyone that donated or just helped along the way to the fair. Last month, the leaders shared fun activities and shared club members would need to vote on them. Record books and officer books are going to be due in September. Shannon Rockhill went over sign-ups for hosts, committees, project leaders and officers for the new year.

In new business, Addie Coulter moved to host a bake sale and was seconded by B. Rockhill. After discussion A. Coulter amended her motion to add a date and time, Tyler Wells seconded, motion passed. D. Coulter moved to have a fun day for the club at Eureka Lake on Aug. 24, Bryce Teter seconded, motion passed. D. Coulter moved to give $10 gift cards to members that complete record books and or officer books, Noah Everly-Burtin seconded motion passed. B. Teter moved to change the date of the next monthly meeting to Sept. 4 because of the holiday Jackson Hobbs seconded. After discussion, B. Teter amended his motion to Sept. 3, Audrey Wallace seconded and motion passed. Everly-Burtin moved to change the time of the October meeting to 5 p.m. and the Achievement Banquet to 6:30 p.m. Clay Teter seconded and motion passed.

Vice President Paiton Gravatt led the program for the evening. Everly-Burtin gave a parliamentarian tip on using recess in a meeting. Song leaders Wallace and B. Teter led the club in singing Happy Birthday to all August birthdays. B. Rockhill gave a project talk on his clothing project at the fair. He brought his clothing and his culture poster he made for the judging contest at the fair. For recreation all members went over their goals that they set at the beginning of the year.

Next month’s meeting will be Tuesday, Sept. 3, at the Christ Lutheran Church at 6 p.m. There will be a parent’s meeting at 5:30 p.m. before the regular meeting.
