Toronto News

Another week has gone by and is in the books. School starts this week in many places; some started last week. Is it just me, or are schools starting earlier in the year? I think we didn’t start school until the last week of August and usually started on a Thursday.

Another week has gone by and is in the books. School starts this week in many places; some started last week. Is it just me, or are schools starting earlier in the year? I think we didn’t start school until the last week of August and usually started on a Thursday.

I always thought it was kind of crazy that we would go to school two days, then have a three day weekend. Why not just wait and start on the first Tuesday of September? Oh well, it’s been a few years since I’ve been to school.

Which U.S. state has the highest speed limit?

Hello to all in area nursing and assisted living facilities. Hello also to all in area hospitals and rehab centers.

We offer our sympathy to all who lost loved ones this past week. May they all rest in peace.

We had family in for a get together over the weekend. The Toronto Senior Center was our place for gathering as a big group to eat lunch on Saturday. It’s great to have a place like the Center that you can rent for such activities.

Wade’s sister and her husband, Marge and Nick Wilmarth of Keyes, Okla.; his daughter Diane Bischoff and daughter Rachel of Imperial, Neb.; grandson Bryan Bischoff and his fiancĂ© Anne Price, both of North Platte, Neb.; his son Danny Percifield of McCook, Neb., nephew Keenan Comer and daughter, Marnie, and nieces Tonia Comer and Wydene Terell, all of Ponca City, Okla. and my dad, Robert Cummings of Wichita all attended.

It was great to see and visit with everyone.

A reminder to all, if you have a family get together of any kind and would like it to be included in the newspaper, call me or send an email to [email protected].

Saturday morning started bad as I had to take Punky to the vet in Eureka. Her hind legs were not supporting her. So, a physical exam and X-Ray showed a bulging disc in her neck, a mass in her chest, that is most likely cancerous, and something with her lower back.

My brain just kind of shut off after the possible cancer diagnosis. So, we come home with some medicine and wait to see how she responds. She’s 12 years old, so surgery is not an option. But she’s still a happy-go-lucky little girl. We will do what is best for her.

Answer: Texas. In the U.S. speed limits are set by each state or territory. States have also allowed counties and municipalities to enact typically lower limits. Highway speed limits can range from an urban low of 20 mph to a rural high of 85 mph. The highest posted speed limit in the country is 85 mph and can be found only on Texas State Highway 130, a toll road that bypasses the Austin metropolitan area for long-distance traffic.

My guess to this question was Montana. I forget that Texas has a lot of wide open nothingness. Guess I learned something new today.
