WELCA met Aug. 1 (no July meeting), at the Eureka Christ Lutheran Church (CLC) in the Bell Tower Room with Vice President Camille Frakes presiding.

The meeting began with prayer and Frakes giving devotions from Exodus: “Trusting God to provide for all.”

Roll call was answered by five members with a Bible verse.

Secretary Sue Erickson read the minutes of the June 6 meeting. Treasurer Margaret Spires gave the Treasurer’s report.

A Thank You was read from the family of Rosalie Garrison expressing appreciation to WELCA for accommodations for the family during their mother’s funeral at CLC.

The embroidered quilt received a Blue ribbon at the Greenwood County Fair and prize money was turned in to Spires.

New business included contributions for cookies for the Aug. 18 new member reception.

A new outhouse for the Upper Fall River Church is being planned.

Spires presented the program: Psalm 118 “A Song of Victory,” Martin Luther’s favorite Psalm he wrote. Members assisted in reading verses.

The next meeting will be Sept. 5 with Grace Stacey giving devotions, Erickson giving the program and Frakes providing refreshments.

The Lord’s Prayer was recited in unison. Stacey provided refreshments with coffee.
