On Thursday, July 25, Chris Cummings was recognized as “Community Member of the Month” for his continued efforts in serving the community through various efforts.

Cummings is the fifth recipient of the “Community Member of the Month” honor for 2024 and will now be eligible for “Community Member of the Year,” which will be voted on by community residents in December 2024 and January 2025. He will join Isaac Boone (March rec ipient), Ariel Treece (April rec ipient), Tammi Burtin (May recipient) and Heather Fuesz (June recipient)on the ballot.

In the nomination, it was noted that “Chris is always willing to lend a helping hand. He will mow neighbors yards, trim their trees and shrubs, haul off limbs or unwanted items to the dump without being asked.”

HowTo Nominate

To nominate a “Community Member of the Month” simply send a letter with your name, the person’s name you are nominating and why you are nominating them for the honor. (Those wishing to remain anonymous can do so; but, the committee asks that your name and contact information be included in case committee members need additional information.) Letters should be sent to The Eureka Herald, PO Box 590, Eureka, KS 67045 or emailed to Robin Wunderlich at news@ eurekaherald. com. Forms are also available at The Eureka Herald, Lo Mar Drive-in and the City of Eureka water office. The committee is asking that nominations be submitted prior to the 15th day of the month. Committee members will then review the nominations and select the recipient. To learn how you can participate, contact Wunderlich at 620750-0714.
