Received Minor Injuries During Two-Vehicle Accident

Last Friday, July 26, first responders were dispatched to a twovehicle accident at the US 400 Highway and K-99 south junction, at approximately 12:45 p.m.

Last Friday, July 26, first responders were dispatched to a twovehicle accident at the US 400 Highway and K-99 south junction, at approximately 12:45 p.m.

Greenwood County Sheriff’s deputies and Greenwood County EMS, responded to the accident.

Upon arrival, deputies were able to determine there were only minor injuries involved.

According to the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office, Tanner Wegele, 31, of Benton, Ark., was traveling westbound on US 400 Highway in a 2022 Nissan Versa. Sillena Clingerman, 44, of Severy, was driving a 2016 Toyota Avalon on S Road. Clingerman pulled out into the intersection from S Road, heading southbound and struck the vehicle driven by Wegele. Clingerman and her passenger were checked by Greenwood County EMS and released at the scene. Wegele’s passenger was transported to the Greenwood County Hospital with suspected minor injuries.

The accident was the second of two collisions on 400 Highway that occurred a week apart. The first one also involved two vehicles, but was at the north junction of US Highway 99 and K-99 Highway, where both drivers were taken to Wichita hospitals for serious injuries.

According to the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office, Timothy Welsh, 63, of Prarie Village was driving south bound on Highway 99 in a 2016 Toyota passenger car. Welsh failed to stop at the stop sign and struck a 2016 Ford Truck that was west bound on 400 Highway. The truck was driven by Robert Beckler, 64, of Maize. It was shared that as of Tuesday, July 23, both Welsh and Beckler had been released from the hospital and were recovering at home.
