Eureka Library Moving To New Circulation System

The Eureka Public Library (EPL) is moving to the SEKnFind library consortium on Monday, Aug. 12. SEKnFind is managed by the Southeast Kansas Library System. Over 50 libraries are members of SEKnFind, sharing a single automated system for the catalog and circulation systems. What does this mean?

The Eureka Public Library (EPL) is moving to the SEKnFind library consortium on Monday, Aug. 12. SEKnFind is managed by the Southeast Kansas Library System. Over 50 libraries are members of SEKnFind, sharing a single automated system for the catalog and circulation systems. What does this mean?

Starting Aug. 12, EPL patrons will be able to access their library accounts online and can place holds on materials, renew materials, and suggest materials for purchase. Patrons will also be able to use their cards in any member library and place holds on items belonging to any member library - over 700,000 items. Those items will be shipped to the EPL by courier and often arrive more quickly than borrowing through the traditional interlibrary loan service. Eureka will still participate in the statewide interlibrary loan program, however, so any items not owned by a SEKnFind library may still be available through another Kansas library.

Current library cards will continue to work with the new system. Library staff anticipates having to reset the PIN numbers for anyone using the HOOPLA digital platform. Those may be reset starting Aug. 12.

EPL will be closed on Friday, Aug. 9 and Saturday, Aug. 10, for staff training on the new system and for data migration.

EPL staff is looking forward to switching to the new system and hope patrons will like it because it offers patrons many more ways to use a library card to their best advantage. Library staff will have handouts to help everyone learn about the new system and of course, will be glad to answer questions. For more information on this change or any other library service, call 620-583-6222 or stop by the library at 606 N. Main, Eureka.
