The Madison/Virgil USD 386 Board of Education meets monthly on the second Monday of the month. The following report was created from the unofficial meeting minutes of the July 8 meeting, which are subject to board approval.

The agenda, special and regular June meeting minutes and business by consent were approved as presented.

Clayton Hubbell, of BFR CPA, presented the 20222023 Audit.

Board members toured the Ag Building to see an update of the progress.

Superintendent Tammy Baird spoke about the State Assessment Review form regarding the District Needs Assessment.

The board approved Citizens State Banks as the official financial depositor for the 2024-25 school year.

Current accounts payable as detailed in the board packet, totaling $360,748.93, and the treasurer’s report were reviewed. The board approved the board appointment and authorizations ii 1-31, as presented.

The following appointments were approved: Clerk-Kristy Johnson; Treasurer-Kristan Dean; Deputy Clerk-Alana Engle, Lisa Kile; Deputy Treasurer-Christina Young, KPERS, BC/BS, Workman’s Comp, Unemployment Rep.- Johnson; Director of Federal Programs Baird; Hearing Officer for Lunch Application Appeals- Baird; Truancy Officers-Baird & Amanda Schild; Long Term Suspension Hearing Officers- Baird and Schild; Greenbush Representative- Baird; Articles of Agreement & Fiscal Responsibilities for the LEA and Flint Hills Education Cooperative; IDEA Part C to B Transition MOU, Flint Hills Cooperative Hearing Officers- Janet Davis Baker and Sue DeVoe; Asbestos Management Representative-Schild, Special Education Coop Representative-Baird, Homeless School Coordinator- Baird; Freedom of Information Officer- Baird, Activity Fund Representative for J.H. & H.S.- Baird; Activity Fund Representative for Elementary- Schild; Administrative Representative- Justin Redeker; Attorney of Record-KASB; District Compliance Coordinator- Baird; Food Service Director/Authorized Food Service Rep.-Dacia Brandt; Transportation Director-Mark Adams.

Resolutions 25-1 through 25-8 were approved for the upcoming school year.

Board members Amy Hind and Jennifer Watts were selected for the Negotiations Committee for the 2024-2025 school year.

The board approved The Madison News as the school district’s official newspaper.

The board also approved the following reimbursements, Mileage: $.67 a mile, Breakfast: $12; Lunch: $17; Dinner: $22; and prudence would be used for lodging with approval from the building administrator.

KASB board policy updates were approved as presented.

The board vacancy resolution was tabled until the position lines could be reviewed.

The Rec minutes, Crisis Plan and BFR Financial Audit report were approved, as presented.

Information items discussed by Superintendent Baird included Summer Zone, summer maintenance, and voting resolutions for the At-Large positions. Superintendent Baird also gave the administrative reports.

A 15-minute executive session was held for personnel matters, with the board and administration.

After returning to open session, the board approved increasing lunch prices to $3.50 for all grades; and approved Ashleigh Orton as Vocational Agriculture Instructor/ FFA Advisor for the 24-25 school year.

The meeting adjourned at 8:43 p.m.

The Madison Board of Education will meet in August for their monthly meeting on Monday, Aug. 12, at 7 p.m.
