Two male drivers received serious injuries after their vehicles collided near the north junction of Highway 99 and US Highway 400 last Friday, July 19.
The accident resulted in the highway being shut down for a brief time as first responders provided aid to the two victims. The highway also remained closed as Life-Save Transport landed just east of the scene and transported the driver of the pick-up truck to a Wichita hospital.
The driver of the car was transported to Greenwood County Hospital, in Eureka, by Greenwood County EMS and was later transported to a Wichita hospital.
It is believed that the car was traveling south on Highway 99 and failed to stop at the junction and struck the pickup, which was traveling west on Highway 400. Details from the accident (including names) were unavailable from the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office as of press time. Those details are planned to be included in a future edition of The Eureka Herald when available.
