WE Patriot Football Won Season Opener, 70-8

The Patriots of West Elk hosted Udall last Friday for their football season opener, where the Patriots claimed a 70-8 victory at halftime.

The Patriots of West Elk hosted Udall last Friday for their football season opener, where the Patriots claimed a 70-8 victory at halftime.

West Elk scored 50 points in the first quarter with six touchdowns, with successful two-point conversions on each attempt and a safety. The Patriots were first to score with a 12-yard run by Creyo Koop. Koop was also successful on the two-point conversion attempt. West Elk’s Trent Haag connected on a 25-yard pass with Uriah Tillapaugh for the Patriots second touchdown of the evening. The two-point conversion was good with a run by Maddex Moreno. West Elk added two points next with a safety. Still in the first quarter, Koop scored four more touchdowns with a 32-yard run, 10-yard fumble recovery, 38-yard run and a 59-yard run. Running in the two-point conversions were Koop x2, Haag and Moreno.

In the second quarter, Patriot Evan Coble found the endzone on a nineyard run. The two-point conversion attempt was not successful. West Elk’s Garett Usry was next to score for the Patriots when he intercepted a pass and rushed for 23-yards, which was followed by a run by Moreno adding two more for the Patriots. Scoring continued for the Patriots with a 10-yard run from Kase Kill. The two-point conversion attempt was no good.

The final score for the half came from a 13-yard pass from Udall’s Jenson Harness to Brent Burley putting them on the board.

The game concluded at halftime with a score of 50-8.
