Toronto News

Saturday was a day for the history books. This is the second time I’ve seen a president shot. I know Trump isn’t president now, but he was. And, I saw President Ronald Reagan get shot. I was watching TV on March 30, 1981 when the news cut in with a special report.

Rex Kellum has a produce stand just north of Toronto on the west side of the road. It is open several days with hopes to be open more.

I know many of you remember when President Kennedy was shot and Saturday may have brought back some bad memories. I was taking a nap when Kennedy was shot (that’s what Mom told me).

At times like this, it doesn’t matter whether you are Democrat, Republican or some other party; this is the United States of America that kind of idiocy should not happen here. It is time to put political differences aside and be one nation again!

We didn’t get the noisy 13 and 17 year cicadas like parts of the country east of us did, but we still get to enjoy the sound of our regular cicadas. From dusk till dawn, you can hear the noise they make.

The Toronto Volunteer Fire Department recently received a 1986 FMC pumper/ tank truck from the City of Delia. It arrived just in time for the Toronto Day’s parade. It is a bright yellow truck, affectionately nicknamed “Delilah.”

When it is fully equipped, it will be carrying all the necessary equipment for extricating people from vehicles after a car wreck. The old red pumper truck was purchased back in 1972 and is being retired.

Answer: Criticize severely.

Emerald City Foods, now located on Main Street in Toronto, is planning a “Bee Club” where you can learn about bees, planting a pollinator garden, beekeeping and how to gather honey. If you are interested, contact Mandy Simon on Facebook or stop by her new business, where Sassy Sister’s used to be.

It sounds like fun to me, especially the pollinator garden. I am slowly working on one in my yard. I am not much of a gardener, be it flowers or food plants, but I am trying. We have to have our honeybees and other pollinators. It’s been theorized that we, as a world, would only survive 5-7 years without honeybees!

Let’s all do our part and plant more flowers and flowering shrubs.
