McKenna Richardson recently competed at the National Junior Limousin Show and Congress in Tulsa, Okla., June 29 – July 4. There were 252 exhibitors from 26 states that showed 492 head of cattle. Exhibitors may exhibit heifers, cow calf pairs, steers and bulls.

The Bred and Owned Show is when the exhibitor raises the heifer they are showing out of one of their own cows. The judge, Brady Jensen, is from Courtland. Richardson’s Lola 308L ET is an April 4, 2023 heifer that McKenna raised from one of her past show heifers. Upon conclusion of the show, “Lola” was selected as the National Champion Bred and Owned Limousin Female.

Richardson also exhibited an April 14, 2023 heifer, Richardson’s Legacy 309L, in the Bred and Owned LimFlex Show. “Legacy” was selected as the National Reserve Champion Bred and Owned LimFlex Female.

Earlier in the week, Richardson competed in Showmanship. Contestants competed in heats to earn their way to make the Top Ten Finalists. At Limousin Junior Nationals, the Top Ten Finalists then compete in a 30 minute fitting contest with their heifer. After the completition of the time, the exhibitors present their cattle one final time for the judges. Evan and Rachel Summers from Marshall, Mo., judged this portion of the show. Richardson placed 10th Overall in Senior Showmanship.

Richardson will begin her senior year at Oklahoma State University this fall. She is majoring in Animal Science.

She is the daughter of Troy and Jennifer Richardson of Eureka and is the granddaughter of Larry and Betty Richardson of Eureka and Bob and the late Colleen Mainquist of Courtland.
