Gulick Placed Third At Illinois ASA Shoot

Seven area archers competed over the course of two days in Metropolis, Ill. on June 21 and 22 for an Archery Shooter’s Association (ASA) shoot. Among those making the trip from the area were Brad and Wylee Boulanger, Clint and Jeremy Wharton, Curtis and Donna Geary and Chason Gulick. Area native, Gulick placed third in Youth Open Compound; tying numerically by score with second place with a score of 450 out of 480, but losing by one 12 ring. The Youth Open Class consisted of 44 participants shooting 40 targets.

Gulick, along with B. and W. Boulanger and C. and D. Geary, will continue finishing out this year’s Pro/Am tournaments in August when he travels once again to Alabama.

Several area archers will also be competing in the annual Kansas ASA State shoot this weekend in Hutchinson.

About the ASA Pro/Am Tour The ASA Pro/Am Tour is a national series of Pro/ Am tournaments, plus the Championship “Classic” which are recognized as the best run, highest paying and most exciting events in 3-D archery. Competitors pay entry fees based on their competitive division in both pro and amateur classes, and they receive cash awards, trophies, and accumulate points toward the prestigious “Shooter of the Year” award in their class. In addition to providing world class competition, each ASA Pro/Am provides the Host community and surrounding area with an economic impact of well over $1,000,000, as each event attracts thousands of archers, sponsors, family members and spectators.
