Well, another Toronto Days is in the books. It was a looonng weekend of activities this year! Lots of people were in town for extended weekend. Toronto even made the 6, 9 and 10 p.m. news on KOAM TV.

It was good to see our amazing little town on the news for something good and fun. We hope everyone had an enjoyable, fun and safe weekend!

The temperature Saturday morning at 6 a.m. was 62 degrees! I had hoped that was a sign that it was going to be a nice day! Well, it was a nice day, just got a little on the hot side!

What is “Equivocation?” Hello to all in area nursing and assisted living facilities. Hello also to all in area hospitals and rehab centers.

We offer our sympathy to all who lost loved ones this past week. May they all rest in peace.

I have to take a minute to say that the town sure looked nice for the weekend. Yards were nicely mowed and trimmed. Our town sure comes together to clean up things for our big festivities. Everyone was helping out wherever it was needed. Now, if we can continue to help one another to keep our community clean.

It’s always sad to see buildings come down on Main Street, but when you see how the areas have been cleaned up and new stuff put in, it is nice. The two buildings that were just cleaned up and the one near the other end of the block look great.

Many plants have been planted at both places along with the addition of places to sit. It's good to see something there besides old dilapidated buildings that are not only an eye sore, but dangerous. The parties involved in the work at both places have done a fine job.

Sounds like the perfect description of political ads! And, it is that season again whether we like it or not. I urge people to get registered to vote. I am a believer in the thought that if you don’t vote, you have no right to complain about whomever is in office.

Work is really coming along on the Cedar Creek Bridge project on Highway 105. It may seem like they aren’t getting anywhere, but they are having to build up the roadway on the west side of the road. When completed, the new bridge will be wider. The view coming into town will be changed.

When coming back into town the other day, I couldn’t help but think of a story that I’ve heard many times in my life. Marilyn Fuhlhage would always tell Mom that when she was married to her first husband and they were in some foreign country (as he was in the military) when she got homesick she would think about the view you see when you make that curve coming in to town.

The tree lined highway, the bridge over the creek was always a comforting view. She knew she was almost home. It is a pretty view. Or was. Not so much right now with all the construction going on, but it will be again.
