A total of 86 contestants, with a total of 512 entries, competed in the second weekend event of 2024 for the Top Hand Youth Rodeo Association (THYRA), July 6 and 7.
All around weekend winners were: Senior Boy: Brock Baumgartel Senior Girl: Savannah Cattrell Intermediate Boy: Kamdon Barnett Intermediate Girl: Dally Umphenour Junior Boy: Weston Downard Junior Girl: Mayley Decker
Peewee Girl: Tulsa Lilley All around winners won a halter and lead rope and fireworks from Wade’s Fireworks in Eureka.
A team roping event was held Saturday night with 151 total teams.
Pate Collins and Dylan Gugelmeyer won 1st, second place went to Jeremiah Corpening and Mark Stueve, third to Koy Smith and Brant Mahaney and fourth to Pate Collins and Amber Batson.
Colter Corpening and Casey Hayes were first in the youth and Kal Greenwood and Josh Lilley won second.
The next THYRA rodeo is August 3-4. Entries will open July 22 for weekend #3.
The THYRA will host a chute dogging/steer wrestling clinic with Joel Edmondson on Friday, August 2, at 7 p.m. There is a fee to attend. For more information or to register text Katie Greenwood at 620-437-6899.
