Two different genres of music will be offered to Eureka Party in the Park goers this Wednesday, July 3, as a rock band and a country singer will be performing.

Dodge City rock band Vegan Shark will bring a unique brand of progressive pop to the annual event.

Guitarist and singer Nash Griggs fronts the band, joined by bassist and multi-keyboardist Brandon Brown and veteran drummer Nathan Adamson.

With influences ranging from pop and grunge to progressive rock and jazz, Vegan Shark has developed a live show of original songs plus rock favorites from ELO and The Beach Boys, along with a light show.

A small town Flint Hills native herself, Savanna Chestnut, from Valley Falls, will perform.

From dive bars, fairs, festivals and rodeos, to season 20 of The Voice on NBC where she was chosen by Blake Shelton, Chestnut has won over audiences with her unique, yet nostalgic country style.

Chestnut has won multiple songwriting contests and has been nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year at the Rocky Mountain Country music awards four times. She has shared the stage with acts such as Gary Allan, Eli Young Band, Reckless Kelly, Granger Smith, Tanya Tucker, Jason Boland, Ned Ledoux and many others. She has 3 studio albums of original music available on all streaming platforms.

The Party in the Park event will begin with a free swim at the Eureka Aquatic Park from 12-2 p.m. A celebration in the park, with a free cookout and watermelon, face painting and live music will begin at 6 p.m., with the annual fireworks display slated for 10 p.m. Events will continue on Thursday, July 4, with the annual flag raising ceremony, at the Greenwood County Courthouse at 8 a.m. The annual 4th of July parade will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Main Street. Line-up begins at 10 a.m. at Academy and Elm Streets (walkers and bicycle entries should meet at 7th and Main Streets). For more information contact Don Scott at 620-583-6398.

The annual event will conclude with the annual “Eureka in Eureka” event, a scavenger hunt through the city limits. Those wishing to participate should meet at the Masonic Lodge Building, located at 109 S. Walnut Street at 12 p.m. For more information contact Craig Olson at 620-717-2112 or Matt Winn at 620-583-2205.
